10 Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Baby

Do you have a newborn, or even a toddler or older children at home and you have no babysitter around to take care of them so that you can have a date night with your partner at a romantic restaurant for a candle light dinner? Let’s be honest. It just goes without saying that you’re so exhausted that a date night seems out of reach. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t set aside some one-on-one time with your partner on this special day which is only once in a year! Here we have 10 stay-at-home date night ideas that are perfect for Valentine’s Day.

1. A Romantic Dinner

A simple homemade romantic meal is easy to manage, most suitable for parents with a newborn or toddler. Your partner or you can handle the baby duty, while the other can spend some time in the kitchen and whip up a romantic meal for you both to enjoy. Once the meal is ready, pack your little one into bed, sit down, eat, talk (NOT about your baby), listen to soft music and relax.

2. A Special Breakfast

Having a movie at the end of a long day is a great way to relax and it feels much better than having to head out to the cinema, worrying about how your kids doing at home. Find a romantic love story, prepare some snacks and cuddle around with your partner on a couch. Or if the entire family is watching, enjoy a kid-friendly love story, like Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast etc.

4. Love Letters

Put aside your electronic devices, grab a piece of paper and a pen, and start writing. Don’t worry about your handwriting as nothing could be more romantic to tell your partner how you feel about him/her than a love letter you wrote with your own hand. It’ll be even better if you and your partner exchange a love letter, and do this every year on the Valentine’s Day.

5. Make Something Together

It can be fun doing or making something together with your partner on this special day. It can be cake baking, decorating a love corner in the house (here’s a sample you can refer to), making soaps, candles and many more. If your kids are old enough, involve them too in a Valentine’s craft project.

6. Have Friends Over

It sounds more romantic to have time for just you and your partner, but you may be surprised of how refreshed you’ll feel after spending some time with other adults vs just your newborn and partner. Just sit around and chat over a simple dinner. Oh ya… remember DO NOT talk endlessly about the baby. It’s tempting but you may bore your pals who aren’t parents yet.

7. Play Games

Keep those kind of games later! What we are saying here are games like Scrabble, chess, UNO cards or even break into your kids’ board games, or yes, the PS4! Research shows a healthy dose of competition can keep couples happy. You can have some snacks to accompany the game match too.

8. Enjoy Your Music

How many of you who already forgotten about your own music and stick to lullabies, nursery rhymes and silly kids music? Please raise your hands. Well, you may not be able to sneak away to a concert, but you still can enjoy your favourite music right at home. Enjoying your own music again may be so awesome – dance to music, sing along with your partner while laying in bed and more.

9. Give A Gift

You have probably been falling in love with your partner all over again since your baby arrived; she is now in a brand new, motherly nurturing role while he is being so kind in helping to look after the baby so that she can have a minute to herself. Chances are, however, that either of you are so busy with the baby, you are not getting that connection time with you partner like you used to. A gift doesn’t have to be big, nor expensive. It just has to remind your partner that you love him/her dearly.

10. Get Physical

Many new parents actually neglected their sex lives – energies all goes to the newborn and are always exhausted towards the end of the day. It is absolutely normal for newer parents to be nervous about sex, but it’s not OK if it goes to, “Let’s not touch at all.” A couple who doesn’t get physical is usually not happy and won’t stick together long. Give each other massages, take a bubble bath together, cuddle and tell each other how much you love him/her. And there goes the night… If you need protection, we do have here.
